Fat Quarter Monkey #SummerofJoAnn

Disclosure: I received a JoAnn gift card to participate in the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores® “Cape Discovery” summer crafting challenge. Opinions here are my own.

Yesterday I attempted to sew my first stuffed animal as part of the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores® “Cape Discovery” summer crafting challenge. Not too bad, right?

There are 72 featured crafts in their spring catalog, and there’s a craft for all skill levels. I decided I wanted to challenge myself a bit and chose to make the Fat Quarter Monkey.

Here is a side-by-side shot of the Fat Quarter Monkey from the Jo-Ann catalog and mine…

If you happen to like my monkey, I would love if you re-pinned this side-by-side image with the hashtag #summerofjoann, as the blogger with the most repins will win a JoAnn gift card.

The instructions are available online through PDF download, and this particular craft definitely requires some sewing knowledge. The instructions are extremely vague, so for someone with zero sewing experience, I could only imagine this craft would be not only confusing, but it would probably seem impossible. I honestly struggled with it a bit.

And if I had to do it over again, I would enlarge the pattern a lot more than I did and make this monkey bigger. It would make it easier to stuff and sew, in my opinion.

32 Week Bumpdate

32 Weeks Pregnant

I had an OB visit this past Thursday and I will be seeing my doc every week until the baby is born. I’m actually going to be doing NSTs at every visit since my Papp-A levels are low and I have a marginal cord insertion.

The pain is still here and I still have trouble sleeping. There are nights I only get around 4 hours of sleep because of all the pain and discomfort, so you can imagine how highly irritable and exhausted I am all day long. Less than 8 weeks to go!

Weekend Snippets- A Day at the Fair

Music: You’re My Best Friend by Queen

I mentioned we spent Sunday at the County Fair, and for the first time ever we actually had a blast. Paul and I usually avoid going to the fair at all costs, but Eleanor had been asking persistently if we could go. It’s as if she knew they were in town.

Thankfully my sister, brother-in-law, and older brother met us there and were a HUGE help with the girls.

Rather than post a gazillion pictures of our day at the fair, I decided to get a little more creative and put together a fun, short video. Enjoy!

Soleil Selene’s New Look!

Soleil Selene Blog Design

I am just ecstatic over my new blog design. I love it’s simplicity and sweet look.

Gloria from Little White Whale Studio is the talent behind this pretty little design. She was extremely patient and accommodated the countless requests I bombarded her with. She is pretty awesome.

I’ve been itching for a new design for some time. While I loved my previous design, it no longer suited my needs. After much thought and some reevaluating, I finally have a vision for this blog. Yes, it only took nearly three years (in August), but I now know what this blog is and isn’t.

I want this blog to be a mini documentary of our family’s life. Something my kids can look back on and see just how fun and full of love their childhood was.

Yes, you will still see an occasional review, giveaway, or sponsored post, but not to the extent that I’ve done in the past. I plan to share more of our family’s everyday adventures, more of my craft projects and ideas, as well as some great causes that I think are worth knowing about.

A huge THANK YOU to my loyal blog readers who have been around since the beginning (or close to it). I truly appreciate your support and encouragement through the years!
