Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament – Buena Park, CA

If you happen to be in Southern California and are looking for a place to have a fun dinner with the family, I highly recommend the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Buena Park, CA. On our trip down to Disneyland at the beginning of December, we were able to make time to see this show and our entire family had a blast!

Arrival

It was recommended that we arrive an hour prior to the start of the show. Upon arrival, we were given paper crowns and greeted by employees dressed in medieval costumes. We took a group photo with the “princess”, which we were able to purchase before the show for an additional fee. Luckily, the hour seems to just fly by as there are souvenirs and other merchandise to browse and buy while waiting. There is also an area where you can view the horses used in the show. Also, there is a little pre-show with the king and his knights, which many people gathered around to watch.

The Dinner

As you probably have already guessed, since these are the “Medieval Times” you aren’t allowed to eat with utensils. You use your hands for everything, but our waitress did offer the girls a straw to use for their water. The menu consisted of tomato bisque, garlic bread, roasted chicken, a barbecue rib, a potato, an apple turnover and your choice of water, cola or iced tea. We all really enjoyed the dinner, with the exception of the potatoes. They also provided us with a wet wipe to clean our hands afterward.

The Tournament

While eating dinner, the tournament begins. Each section roots for their colored knight, which is assigned to you when you pick up your tickets. Throughout the show, the knights compete in mini contests and battles, and the beautiful horses also perform little dances that really had me amused.

Both the girls really enjoyed the show. The loved watching the horses dance around, and the knights compete. Just the other day, they were talking about the blue and green knights, which were their favorite ones. I’m amazed that they actually remember the show.
