Week 1 on Medifast- Great Start!

Yesterday was Day 7 on Medifast. I wish I could put into words how motivating and inspiring the Medifast community is, and how blessed I feel to have this opportunity.

I decided from the get-go that I was going to utilize every tool available to me- one of which is the MyMedifast community. It’s a free online support system where I’ve been able to connect with fellow Medifast-ers, find helpful information and tips, and stay motivated and inspired by the incredibly encouraging members. It is probably my favorite aspect about the program because they keep me believing that I can do this.

I also ‘met’ my Registered Dietitian this week over the phone. She was very knowledgeable and even answered all the questions I had before I had a chance to ask them. I will be checking in with her weekly, which is another reason why I feel so supported by this program. You can also get in contact with the Official Medifast Nutrition Support Team via the MyMedifast forums. Another great feature of the MyMedifast community.

Now onto my actual experience with the food. The portions are small and average about 100-110 calories a meal. I eat every 2-3 hours and drink a gallon of water a day. I have not experienced any headaches or hunger at all this week. I’ve been using My Fitness Pal to plan my meals, and to eliminate having to think about what I’m going to eat the day of. Instead, I plan it out a couple of days in advance and just stick to my food diary. I’ve been rotating my meals, and make it a point to eat something different every day. I have tried everything from my first order at least once so far.

During the day, I have 4 Medifast meals. In the late afternoon/early evening, when Paul gets home, we have a nice home-cooked “Lean & Green” meal, which consists of lean protein and veggies. I’ve tried a couple recipes from the Lean & Green Cookbook and have loved every single one of my L&G meals. After about 2 hours, I eat my last Medifast meal of the day- either soft serve, a soft bake chocolate chip, or a brownie. Yum!
