The girls’ Fall soccer session came to an end on Friday. We will have to say goodbye to Coach Jason until sometime in January. Eleanor will be moving up to the bigger kids class, while Isabel stays behind in the Mommy and Me sessions.
Regardless of them being in different classes, it’s important to both Paul and I that we attend their sessions as a family. Supporting our little athletes is something we have done since the beginning. I remember chasing Isabel around on the soccer field (she was too young to participate) when we first signed Eleanor up for soccer. Even though I wasn’t participating with her, I wanted her to know I was there to cheer her on and watch her play.
Seeing how my our two little athletes progress with each session is truly amazing. Isabel went from showing little interest, to participating in most of the sessions. Eleanor loves to compete and I can’t wait to see how she does next season when she’ll have to participate independently with me, Paul and Isabel only watching from the sidelines.
I know it sounds a little hokey, but I did get a little teary-eyed this last session. It’s hard to believe my first-born is already old enough to take soccer classes on her own, and no longer needs her mommy or daddy by her side. Luckily, I had a travel pack of Kleenex in my pocket to dry my eyes before any of the other parents caught me crying. Yes, I am overly emotional. But how can I not be with two adorable little girls who never cease to amaze me every single day.
