DIY Halloween Banner

I’ve been meaning to make a Halloween banner since the beginning of October, but only had the chance to get to it the other day. I went back and forth between ‘Happy Halloween’ and ‘Trick or Treat’. In the end, I decided that ‘Trick or Treat’ would be best because it would look more symmetrical and I’m a perfectionist like that. A Virgo quality that is a blessing and a curse.

Supplies Needed

1. Creatopia by Xyron
2. Orange, Black and White cardstock
3. Scissors
4. Hole Punch
5. Black Yarn

Instructions

Load the Creatopia with the Cutz cartridge and straight blade. Cut 4″ x 5″ rectangles with black cardstock. Using 3 sheets should give you 12 rectangles. When done, remove straight blade.

Load the Cutz cartridge with the wave blade. Using orange cardstock, cut out 3.75″ x 4.75″ rectangles. Using 3 sheets should give you 12 rectangles.

Using white cardstock, print out the words ‘Trick or Treat’ using your printer. For this banner I used the Copse font at 300pt for the words ‘TRICK’ and ‘TREAT’, and 150 pt for the word ‘OR’. Cut out letters using scissors. Remove Cutz cartridge from Creatopia and replace with Stickz Adhesive cartridge. Place orange rectangles and letters on tray and turn crank to apply adhesive.

Remove plastic film. Peel orange rectangles off and place onto black rectangles. You should have 12 rectangles.

DIY Halloween Banner

Peel letters off and place onto orange rectangles. You will have one rectangle left over. Use hole punch to make holes at the top corners of the rectangles. When done, use black yarn to connect letters together.

I’m probably too late to make this for Halloween, but I want to make a banner like that for my Cookie Swap. I have some great papers I need to use.

What a handy tool! I’m sure it would pay for itself if you used it as often and as creatively as you do.
